Sweden's Martyrdod have returned with a new recording that continues the mixture of crust and grind with some black metal elements of their previous recordings and this is a review of their 2016 album "List" which will be released on November 25th by Southern Lord Records.
A very heavy yet melodic sound starts off the album before going into more of a fast d beat direction along with some high pitched screams that have a black metal edge to them and after awhile the music starts adding in more elements of crust and grind and when guitar leads are utilized they are done in a very melodic fashion.
Throughout the recording you can hear a great mixture of slow, mid paced and fast parts and all of the musical instruments have a very powerful sound to them and the music also brings in influences from folk music and the more melodic side of punk rock and they also bring in a brief acoustic instrumental before returning back to a heavier direction on the remaining tracks.
Martyrdod creates another recording that remains true to the grindcore and melodic mixture of previous recordings, the production sounds very professional while the lyrics are written in Swedish and cover dark themes.
In my opinion this is another great sounding recording from Martyrdod and if you are a fan of this band, you should check out this album. RECOMMENDED TRACKS INCLUDE "Overleveran" "Oemotstanding" "Handlost Fallen Angel" and "Transmission". 8 out of 10.
